Durham Public Schools Technology Showcase

They were demonstrating how students at Little River use technology to improve their literacy at the 2009 DPS Technology Showcase. Over 200 students, teachers and community members learned about the exciting ways technology is enhancing teaching and learning in our schools.

Little River Elementary School is located at 2315 Snow Hill Road, Durham, NC 27712. We are located in Northern Durham County next door to Durham Technical Community College (North Campus). We serve 670 students in grades K-5 and follow the traditional school calendar.

Kindergarten and First Grade PTA Social: 03/11/10 - 06:00PM - 07:00PM
The PTA is inviting families of Kindergarten and 1st graders to a social. This event is designed to bring together Little River families for a chance to meet and get to know one another. This event will take place on Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 6-7 pm. A meal will be catered by Spicy Green Gourmet. Every family is invited to order and prepay for their meal (this is optional). Order forms for the meal will be sent home with students. Tickets will be sold at the social for $1.00 each for a raffle to be held at the last General PTA meeting on Monday, April 19th. We will be giving away a 32" flat screen tv and a flip camcorder. We look forward to seeing all of our Kindergarten and 1st grade families on the 11th!

Durham Public Schools will offer a workshop for parents of upcoming 6th graders called "Making the Move to Middle School" on Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the Staff Development Center.

Science Day: 03/12/10 - 09:15AM - 03:25PM
Little River will hold its 7th Annual Science Day on Friday, March 12, 2010 from 9:15 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Students will learn about pollution, static electricity, internet, soil and water, recycling, aquatic animals, animals and their behavior, plant growth, human skeleton, magnets, forensics, water conservation, and chemistry to name a few.
